I have eaten here for a few years now I have eaten a wide array of there food. Everything is awesome you really can't go wrong on either Mexican or there American classics!

I've lived in SLO for over 10 years and this is hands down one of my favorite spots to go. No matter what time of day, you should order the chili verde. Just do it. It's seriously maybe the best thing I've ever eaten. Whether it's in a breakfast burrito, omelette, burrito, salad, enchiladas, or by itself, it will not disappoint. Everything I've ever ordered here (yes, occasionally I've ventured away from the chili verde) is super good, the service is always friendly and quick, and the outside ambiance is great.

The food is awesome! So is the service! They don't call it the "mouthwatering mango salsa" for nothing. I actually came in here with a pretty dry mouth this morning and that is no longer the case.

Hearty Mexican breakfast that holds you over 'till dinner...! There may be a bit of a wait; but, the eats are worth it. Dine inside or enjoy the colorful, eye-catching patio decor outside while devouring your breakfast burrito. This place is calling especially on a sunny coastal morning! And, they have Bloody Mary's to boot! The 'heat' is on - get your Mexican fix here!

The service here is great: the staff treats you like a good friend! And the clam chowder is amazing!

Great breakfast and good people. We were passing through this area and just happened to find this cool place. The food was great and service was fast and courteous.

The food was good. Not great. I asked our waiter for more sour cream. He never brought it AND charged me for it. On the plus side, the live music and decor!

Still one of my favorites! Great chips n salsa! The absolute BEST hot sauce I've ever had!! Still NOT my favorite for guacamole. Just doesn't feel fresh.

Come here often. Service is always efficient & if your lucky you'll get mica as your server. She's very kind & hustles to make sure you are happy. I love this place food is consistently good & prices are very good :) Cheers & enjoy.

We come to Shell Beach quite often and stop at Zorros at least once or twice each time. My favorite items are anything with chorizo, carne asada tacos, chili relleno, and clam chowder. The salsa is amazing and I literally put it on everything (except for the chowder). Food and service is always consistently great. Glad to hear they are expanding their restaurant as well!

Still the best Mexican in Shell Beach. Remodeled and even more room and clean decor.

Zorro's is a very likable restaurant experience. This was our first visit and we went for brunch. It's very popular and can have a little wait but the management is well handled. The decor and the feel of the restaurant is fun and while the number of tables is limited the service is fast and efficient. Their is an excellent selection of food choices and all the things we tried were delicious. Our group looks forward to going back and I would highly recommend this restaurant.

Great place to eat, and I would have given it 5 starts before the recent remodel. After the remodel they fenced in the outside patio area up front, and I just don't like it. Spoils the view and makes the area feel more cramped. More importantly, while the food is still awesome, they seemed to change the portion size for all dishes. Shrimp cocktails have less shrimp, and they seemed to have changed to smaller plates for all meals, meaning smaller portions. I used to be able to count on coming home with a doggy bag of Zorro's leftovers. Now the portion size is enough to fill you, but no more. Service, pricing and food is still great, but for me no longer a 5 star place after the remodel.

some thing has changed. i have gone here at least once a month and there is something a miss, the last two time i have been in there the food hasn't been the same, portions are getting smaller, pricing is getting higher. i think it might be time to fin a new breakfast spot

We were staying at the Cottage Inn by the Sea for parents weekend at Cal poly. Our daughter told us about the place. What a true experience. When we called, we asked if they were playing the Giants game. Not only did I get a yes but they reserved a spot in front of the TV and they turned the traditional mute off for us. I had the seafood enchiladas, my son had clam chowder soup ( go figure in a Mexican restaurant) Awesome! Shannon was our server. I was guessing who owned it..... Everyone acted as if they were the owners. Small and quaint! Highly recommend this place. Very reasonably priced.

Legit mexican food with some of the friendliest service I have ever encountered at a restaurant. Food is served hot and fresh and full of flavor. Clam chowder was an unexpected surprise! It is out of this world - creamy, not the least bit of fishy taste or grit and full of herbs and spices that set it apart. Better than Splash café. My husband was a big fan of the Chile rellenos. I had the Carne Asada burrito that had very tender meat and lots of it! Chips and salsa came with our meal and was exceptional - salsa had just enough heat. My husband, having lived in Mexico for a time, is a bit of a Mexican food snob so the fact that he liked this place is saying a lot. This is definitely worth a visit!!

Finding GOOD Mexican food in the Central Coast is pretty difficult. This place (after 5 years of searching) has quenched my longing genuine Mexican treats. Breakfast, lunch or dinner, this place has you covered. I even asked for a custom Spinach enchilada style burrito and they made it in a heartbeat! Definitely worth the money and your time.

A fantastic local's treat. Zorro's has expanded their outdoor seating since they opened, but you may still need to wait, due to it's popularity. The sauce used with the fish tacos is FANTASTIC, creamy and chipotle-smoky. The Clam Chowder should win some awards, on account of flavor, texture and plenitude of clams! Oh! And did I mention their salsa? It's so good, I have ordered to-go containers and devoured it like gaspacho on road trips further north. Worth a mention and adding to the charm of this beachside eatery are the mexican blankets to stave off the unpredictable foggy air. This family-owned business is well worth the local fanfare and dining frequency. Go and see/taste for yourself!

A good place to try out while you are near Pismo Beach. There is a big line soon after it opens for breakfast. Tables inside the restaurants are little cramped. Tables out side are nice. However, it is usually cold in the morning. Feel free to use the blankets. Food was good quality, quantity, and well presented. However, it lacked spiciness and flavor. I had chilli relleno with scrambled eggs. I was impressed by the chilli relleno. It was very good. I wish there was more salsa or spicier sauce to go with it. My friend had a spanish omelet. He was happy with it. We were not hungry for rest of the day. For some reason, I felt uneasy and heavy for the rest of the day as if the food was not digested. You should check it out to see if you like it. I would probably try other places near by before coming back here.

  • Tammy D.

Personally I would have given 4 stars but my husband wasn't as much as a fan of the food as I was (he would rate 2.5 stars). The atmosphere in the restaurant is very eclectic, and the staff is friendly. They have a great patio to eat on. The one item missing is a license for hard liquor. I had the sangria but did not feel it was as potent as typical sangrias. I had hoped for a margarita made with tequila (they do make them, but with wine). For dinner I had shredded beef enchiladas with chile verde sauce. I really enjoyed it.

Very very relaxing experience! This place is just built into a house. The food is warm and made with care. Good portion sizes. Was relaxing to sit outside! (FYI, leaves and or bugs might drop down, sit at your own risk). Sitting in the backyard made you feel like this could be your own backyard having a picnic.

Great food! Outside seating. Good prices. LONG WAIT and small space. Hence, four stars.

We took a Southern California road trip & stopped in Pismo beach during the 4th of July heat wave in California. It was gorgeous in Pismo, the cooler temperature was welcoming, speaking of welcoming the hostess that greeted us was so happy to see us, sat us quickly & offered a serape incase It got chilly (they have a basket full of them to hand out) the sun was starting to set. After that we never saw her again, shift ended, but a lovely young man came by & dropped off the best salsa and warm chips this side of the Pecos or Madonna Mtns. Our waitress didn't appear for a bit so we ordered a margarita from the same fellow that brought the chips, they don't have a full bar but carry a variation on tequila, it is made from the agave plant & the percent of alcohol was about 20%, we ordered one & a sangria, the sangria was large & full of dark berries, fruit & wine from Santa Ynez. Delicious. Order time, My favorite Mexican entree, pork chili verde & my BF ordered pork chile verde burrito, oh forgot to tell you the waitress finally came over to take the order. Food arrives piping hot, tasty but where's the morsels of pork? It was a purée of chili verde, lacking pork, same for the chili verde burrito. I will say if there was pork in this savory stew it would have been a perfect meal.......but I can't say that, & I can't say the corn tortillas arrived in time either, I had to get the guy to remind the waitress that I needed my tortillas. She finally brings them over in a tight paper wrapper, they are cold & hard, argh! I try to get her attention again, but she is so consumed by a cute dog, a stone throw away, & instead of coming by our table she ask the dogs owner if she could give him a dog biscuit. I just hope it wasn't as stale as my tortillas. Zonk! In summary the place has a cool vibe, great Mexican decor, & outdoor seating with powerful view of mountains across the freeway. They need to figure out the tortillas situation &'the lack of pork in the chili verde. And please promote the young man to waiter, he was working his ass off the whole time we were there. And about that tequila, ha!

what a pleasant surprise, ended up going here for breakfast both days that we were in pismo. we were a large party and between us, we tried a lot of dishes, all done wonderfully. they had this green chilli stew like which was out of this world. will deff come back the next time we are in town.

Huge portions! We were recommended here by my cousin. So glad we came in! The prices are great for the amount of food you get and the flavor. Even on a rainy day the outdoor seating was comfortable and nice. Will definitely be coming back here next time we are in town.

Clam Chowder was outstanding!!! Better than Splash Cafe and 5 star service!!! I hear the Mexican food is wonderful but we went just to try the 3 years in a row, award winning Chowder and glad we did!

This place is one of my favorites! The service is always amazing, everyone is friendly. Even when there is a wait they make sure to take care of you, and get you seated quickly. The food is good, they serve breakfast till 3. I've never had anything bad from here. I usually go for the mexican food but I am pretty sure you can't go wrong with anything on the menu. Bailee is the best, she is so attentive and accommodating. They have great specials and good authentic mexican food!

We yelped Mexican food near our hotel and this was top rated. I've said it before and I'll say it again - thank goodness for Yelp! The nachos were AWESOME. Seriously - don't bother sharing. The chimichanga and flautas were huge. Rice and beans excellent. Salsa fresh and flavorful. Our server Carissa was super sweet and really knows customer service. Definitely a great spot anytime you're in Pismo.

My Valentine and I went there for breakfast yesterday. The food is really good. I don't like how they renovated and expanded the restaurant. I liked the hole-in-the-wall better. But I understand they had more business than the little building could handle and they needed to expand. At least their food is better than ever. Upon taking my fist bite of pancakes, my eyes closed involuntarily. I couldn't open them for a few seconds, that's how good my pancakes were. They always treat us nice at Zorro's. Usually we go there for dinner and have the Tacorona. One time a while ago, I was finishing my breakfast of chile relleno. Our waitress took my plate away while I was still slicing some of the pepper. I had to drop the silverware onto the plate to avoid getting food everywhere. The look on my face must have silly. I don't think she did it out of malice, and I think she was on autopilot. I had never seen her working there and I haven't seen her there since.

This is probably the only place in Shell Beach you'll find a 25 minute wait at 10:30 in the morning on a Sunday. The people like the colorful vibrant setting, friendly staff, and nice quality food. Cons: -aforementioned wait time -some of the food is bland. I always have to add salt and pepper. It would be nice to see some spices and seasonings incorporated into the meal. -Inside seating is VERY noisy. The acoustics aren't the greatest so you really hear everything. PROS: -healthy options available...eg: my omelette had crunchy pieces of broccoli and zucchini I will return to try the lunch-dinner options.

Oh man...you guys really need to stop at this place. Arnulfo is one of the better waiters we've come across. Inviting and friendly but not pushy or judging when it comes to ordering. He knows his menu and is cool with adjusting it. This place seems more known but for its cantina food, but the fish and chips were incredible. Sour dough burger was something incredible. Make sure to sit outside. It's really spectacular

  • Kim C.

I went here for a light snack ordered guacamole and a green salad. I felt it was little overpriced because the portions were small. The service was slow, we were never offered refills on our drinks nor did we receive offers on refills on the chips even after an employees witnessed the wind blow the chips out of the basket onto the ground. The guac was good the lettuce on the salad was a little funky tasting. The patio area is nice.

Tried this place for the first time...if you can have a quick service, with delicious food on a labor day weekend, imagine the level of service other regular weekends. very friendly. A good sign of good food is the locals hang out there. Definitely a redo when we go back to Pismo...

Very happy to have such an amazing experience for our first time dinning here, they even had a doggie menu for our pups! Excellent customer service, amazing coffee and delicious gravy!

Stayed at the Shell Beach Inn, and the owner had suggested that we eat breakfast at Zorro's. So glad that he did. The food had a lot of flavor and perfect portions. The three of us girls ate everything on our plates. One cool thing I noticed is they have a few mimosa options. If I didn't have to drive, I would have tried the Hawaiian Mimosa. Give this place a try if you are in the Pismo Beach area.

  • Stacey R.

The employees are so friendly and welcoming. We were seated quickly and brought chips and salsa, (it has a little kick so if you aren't use to it wait until they bring you your drinks). We sat outside on the patio. The patio is dog friendly so keep that in mind. The sweet corn tamales were amazing and they come with this fruit salsa that compliments the tamale nicely. We also tried the chicken taco, beef enchilada, shrimp taco, clam chowder and guacamole. Everything was delicious. We enjoyed music from a local while we ate, not too loud and he was very welcoming and loved chatting with guests if you talked with him. If can get a little chilly on the patio so they offer blankets to wrap around yourself if the chill outside gets to you. They even have a dog menu. So if you do bring your pups they will prepare food for them as well. The couple next to us ordered for their pups and got a healthy portion of chicken, broccoli, carrots and other goodies as well. Doggie plates were decently Prices for what you get.

Great food, poor service. After servicing our drinks, waitress had to come back to rudely ask to check our IDs for a second time. The table next to us got chips and a refill before I had to ask for our. Not once did she ask if we needed a refill on drinks. Food was great though. When I come back I'd make sure I don't have the same servicer.

I wanted to like this place so badly. Cute on the outside with lots of charm. But....I placed a to-go order over the phone and checked in when I got there and paid. The hostess told us we could wait at the bar and that our order would be ready in about 15 minutes. 15 minutes turned into more than 30, so we asked the bar tender to check on our order. "Oh, your order has been ready for a while". Awesome. So we take the food and head back to our hotel. We ordered the enchilada combo and the southwest chicken salad. I asked for Italian dressing instead of the chipotle ranch. I open up my salad and and surprise! No dressing. So I basically paid $11 for lettuce and chicken that we waited over 30 minutes for. Bummer all around.

My fiancee and I came here because it was a block from our hotel and we were too lazy to get ready and go anywhere else. Plus it was recommended by the hotel manager. We are Mexican so when it comes to Mexican food places we are a little picky, especially if they aren't in LA. This place was really really good!! We shared the 2 tostadas plate and the enchiladas plate. Both meals were really good and flavorful! I especially enjoyed the shredded beef tostada... it was like a big salad! We got there around 6 and after we sat down the place got busy! It is kind of small so there was a line outside. I really recommend this place. Plus, while we were walking on Avila Beach after our super yummy dinner a resident told us he's from LA and that was pretty much the only legit Mexican place in Pismo!

On our Highway 1 drive journey from LAX to Fremont, we passed by the SLO area and found this cute little restaurant for our dinner. The decoration and ambience was quite comfortable when we entered into the door. Outdoor seating area was still somewhat cold with the late afternoon sea breeze, eve though the gas heater was on. Nacho chip and salsa were quite good to start with. We then ordered the Clam Chowder first, as it claimed this soup had won People's Choice for 2 consecutive years. Then we had Fish sandwich and California Burger, both were quite good actually. The price is very reasonable too. If you swing by this area, do come in and feel the friendly service for yourself.

The food overall was good. Super hot plates, so you know it's done when you order, not precooked. Just don't order the carnitas, they were a little dry. Service was excellent, very friendly staff. It can get packed though. Outdoor sitting also very cute and sometimes they have live music.

I like the meals you have at Zorro's. I like the hamburgers when I go for lunch. The people who work there are friendly, it's good service. I like the food it was so good. I usually sit inside, but outside is nice too.

Another excellent night at Zorro's. This place is such as hit especially with visitors. Brought my parents here during their visit and they loved it. Service is always incredibly friendly. You can't beat the ambiance, like seriously, outdoor music, lights, heaters, and a view of the mountains. The food was delicious! The fajitas were perfect. My sister couldn't stop raving about the carne asada fries, which is not even on the menu but they made her request.

This place truly deserves 5 stars. SERVICE IS AWESOME. Food is great... And that's coming from Mexican food snobs from Southern California. New open dining room makes way more space. Always stop here when in the Central Coast and have NEVER had a bad meal or bad service. Salsa is to die for. Great for families and the picky eater. If you trust any review... TRUST THIS ONE!

This is my first time here. On vacation for 4 days. Place is cute, friendly and welcoming. The food is awesome and the waiters and waitresses was super nice. Would definitely be back again next year for my next trip for some fun.

This is the last place you would expect to find Clam Chowder, but oh my gosh it was perfect. I was looking for clam chowder in a bread bowl and the only place that was showing promise was Splash Cafe, which has THEE longest lines. This place was quick, friendly, and delicious. The chowder had a lot of clam meat, but wasn't fishy at all. Very well seasoned and spiced. Definitely hit the spot and filled me up.

One star given due to portion size of the menudo. Went here with family and friends and were expecting a bowl of menudo not a shallow salad bowl of menudo. So disappointing. The other food portions were fine, just wish they would do the same for the menudo. Literally three bites of menudo and when we asked the waitress about the price or if it was a regular not kid sizes portion she said its $9 and thats the normal size. I don't even think you can even call that a portion its more of a sample size. Then the waitress tried to blame it on the ladle..... Ummm i don't think so. I was just so disappointed that i had to write a review.

I really have no complaints here. I was staying around the corner at Shell Beach Inn and the owners recommended this place as a local favorite. It definitely delivered. What a Shell Beach gem. |FOOD| I came here with my dad for dinner and on my own a few other times. The chile verde was recommended by the waitress. They make it fresh. It was nice and spicy, which they did warn me about. But it delivered! Great flavor. Chips and salsa are nice and fresh. I had the eggs benedict with crab -- and MAN do they deliver. They do not scrimp on the crab, and the lumps are jumbo. |SERVICE| My waitresses were all really friendly. They're really busy, but I never had any issues. |ATMOSPHERE| Adorable decor. Not tacky. And I love the outdoor seating area. They break out blankets for customers when it's chilly, too. It's small and cozy -- inside or out. Everything is kept really clean. When I came on a Friday night, they had live music, too. And being that it's just a short walk from the ocean, I enjoyed getting my coffee to go in the morning and walking off breakfast at the beach. |COST| Almost all entrees are $10 or less. Given that everything is made fresh there, I think it's a great price and their portions are great! Mimosas and most drinks are $6 or less. Can't beat it.

The best salsa I've ever had! Food was awesome too! I could imagine catching a good buzz here and chowing down on the Mexican food. Lol! Mexican food always tastes better with beer. Anyway, I had the fish and chips.. I know..I didn't even eat Mexican, but with that being said. It was large portion of four fish. Excellent! My wife had tacos and she thought they were great. Kinda loud with its proximity to the highway, but it was super close to our hotel called The Cliffs. All in all..great service! We sat on the deck and they turned on propane warming heaters, they also brought a blanket for my wife to place on her lap.

So this is my first time here and I must say Awesome chips and salsa to start!!! Great indicator of good food to come, I am excited to try my dish as the plates fly by our table, all smell excellent and fresh!! We ate inside becuase of our group size twelve! The staff was excellent and excited to help us, very nice to see! I had a combination plate of enchilada, tostada and a tamale. Let's start with the tamale a chile cheese delight soft moist and tasty, with good amount of heat. Next I enjoyed my enchilada very good with a mole type of sauce it left me wishing I had a plate full of them! Then came the tostada it was good and fresh nothing spectacular. I felt the same about my rice and beans. Everyone at my table enjoyed their meal but the carnitas and the chile verses were the stars of the show!!!! Unbelievably great chile verde a must try.

Am I missing something? People rant and rave about this place and I just don't see it. It just seems eh....okay. Chilaquiles, beans and rice were nothing special but my wife loved her French toast and my mom will not shut up about the chile verde. I guess I will have to try something different next time. Sometimes eating gluten free can have it's limitations and it makes it hard to rate a place when I can't eat 3/4 of the menu. Prove me wrong Zorro's!!:)

The best Mexican food we've had at a restaurant. The place is busy for a reason. Our server was extremely friendly and the food was authentic. This review is coming from a hispanic couple if that helps. I ordered the pozole and my husband ordered fish tacos. Thank you ZORROS

After a late arrival to a disappointing camp site, we had to find somewhere to get some breakfast the next morning since we didn't have ample time to go grocery shopping. I came across this gem of a restaurant on yelp. The menu was a little intimidating with how many options they had but with 6 different options of breakfast burritos, I was sold. My boyfriend and I ordered the chorizo breakfast burrito and the special, Mexican eggs Benedict. Probably 2 of the best breakfasts I have ever had. The Benedict was with chile verde and biscuits. Very innovative and delicious. The burrito was perfection as well. Between the great food, laid back atmosphere, and friendly staff, I'd say they helped turn our bad day into a good one. I'd highly recommend this place to others and hope to return one day myself.

*Brunch Review* Proper Mimosas served here! All champagne with a splash of orange juice and you can add pomegranate or another juice to tickle your taste buds even more. On to the food...I had the Cuyama chili verde omelette, the chili was fantastic, with juicy chunks of pork and flame spicy enough to not overwhelm the other flavored. I sipped it up with flour tortillas. Mmmmm! Hubby had the Maraca Machaca with eggs, which he said was very yummy, as he kept diving into my plate too! We chose to wait for a seat outside, they have a gray check in system, just write your name down and specify your preference but as we say at the bar to have a Mimosa, they checked in with us to make sure we wanted a table and then Eric checked in again. Great service all around!

Dined over the weekend with my girlfriend. Got there early, so we were seated right away. Service was good, food was mediocre. I ordered the Eggs Benedict (Breakfast)-with crab. The hollandaise sauce was bland and the crab cakes fishy. Ordered a Mocha, and it was luke warm and watery. Experience wasn't memorable-maybe we hit them on an off day?

Supper average food. Not authentic Mexican at all. Tastes like it can came straight from a Cisco box. The service is great and outdoor patio is really nice. I hear their breakfast brunch menu is better. This place is very popular and I can't figure it out. The folks from out of town I get, but why would locals go here? Limited liquor to beer and wine...

We stopped here on a drive through and sure got lucky with what we found - thanks to yelp reviews. Excellent food and service! We were greeted by a friendly lady who took our take-out order. Service was quick to-go. The outdoor dining was packed so it looks like a great spot in town! I ordered the vegetarian spinach enchiladas in their green chile sauce. Very spicy - which I love. We also ordered the nachos and chicken quesadilla. Everyone (more than) satisfied with the flavor and portion size! I would definitely stop by again when I'm around the central coast. Thanks for a great meal!

Long overdue review. Cute place that seems to be busy often. Chips n salsa were tasty. Entrees were healthy portion, meaning they are smaller than the usual mexican restaurants. I ordered chile verde which was flavorful but wasn't slow cooked because the meat was firm and not top moist. And not fall apart tender. It tasted like it had more cumin or spices that aren't as strong as other chile verdes I've ordered elsewhere. Rice and beans decent. Reminds me more of tex mex. I had shrimp cocktail as am appetizer and that was good but nothing to rave about. Large shrimp though was a plus.

Came here for breakfast and we were pleasantly surprised! Everyone has told us great things and they were right! Hubby and I ordered the Enchilada Omelette and Breakfast Burrito #1. The Enchilada Omelette was so delicious! We ate that and left the burrito! Burrito was great too! They have very good beans and rice and a yummy enchilada sauce! Nice friendly staff as well! Next time we're hoping to make it for Taco Rona specials!!

Great Enchiladas Verdes - beans and rice were perfect accompaniment. Will come back next time through. Perfect day to sit on the patio and have a gracious lunch.

Solid Mexican food in a funky little cafe. The service was quick and friendly. The chips and salsa to start was nice. The salsa wasn't too spicy but, had a nice smoky flavor. I had the Salsa Verde Burrito. It was excellent. The pork was well cooked and spicy. The sauce had just the right degree of heat. My wife had a burrito with shredded chicken. It was ok. The chicken was warm but, the cheese and rice was cold. It really didn't have much spice to it. All in all, good but, not great.

I don't think it's a secret that finding really quality Mexican food in this area is difficult task, in fact, I could probably count the good Mexican restaurants that I've been to in slo county on my hand, but the meal that my family had tonight was spectacular! we ordered take out, but the restaurant seems really nice inside & out, and the food is incredible! the flautas will send you to heaven (I mean it, order them!), and the montaña de oro taco salad (love these neat, local names btw) was no joke! fresh greens, beautiful spices, and a crispy, light taco shell bowl? what more could you ask for? (a tad juicy, must admit, but hey, I'm kind of into that). the enchiladas and carne asada burrito were ¡muy delicioso! and the salsa: ¡fenomenal! I would recommend highly to visitors & locals alike, a truly great experience

Second time here since I've moved to the central coast, and this place is amazing, definitely going to be a regular here!! The staff is always friendly, the Clam Chowder is the best I've tasted, only cause the clams taste so fresh! ! I will be recommending this place to all my friends!

Stopped for lunch after seeing the many positive Yelp reviews. We weren't disappointed. The place looks small from the outside, but is larger than it appears with a decent patio and inside seating. We signed in and were seated immediately. Quirky and cute beach town local eatery. A lady behind us was clearly a regular and all the servers stopped to chit chat and say hello. Quick service getting our drink and food orders. I had their Salmon Salad, and my fiance had their #7 combo with one each of their Shredded Chicken/ Shredded Beef Taco and Cheese Enchilada. Both meals were well prepared, served quickly. Would go again, no question.

I would say this place is nothing special as far as the palate is concerned. The food is pretty simple and bland, if you like that then you'll like this place more. If you like some spice your not gonna get it . Someone at our hotel said they had good margaritas, well they only have their beer and wine license so it's a sugary wine based tequila. Not what I'd call the best margarita. Everyone who worked there was very nice though, they were packed but the service was good and prompt. They had some guys outside playing music which made for great ambiance.

Fantastic breakfast. Yes, I said breakfast. It is the best in the 5 cities for standard breakfast. Also the standard Mexican food is solid. Everyone we bring here leaves happy. The chicken chile verde tamale and eggs is my favorite. Love sitting outside.

Great outside area but if you've eaten authentic Mexican food before don't eat here. I give it 2 stars for effort and good service.

If you have the opportunity to eat here, don't pass it up. Wow!! Terrific food and super friendly servers. Get the chili verde omelet and the multi grain pancakes. You will not be disappointed. But I'm pretty sure everything is good here!

Zorro's has great food and wonderful service. I ordered the chile relleno and eggs with a Bloody Mary. The chile relleno was perfect, nicely battered and stuffed with Mexican cheese topped with two eggs over easy. The yolks ran down onto the chile relleno, rice, and beans, making the perfect mess of a breakfast I was looking for. I added their house hot sauce to the Bloody Mary which brought a nice bit of spice to their flavorful homemade mix. The corn tortillas are made in house too. They had great texture, and the flavor of the corn meal came through nicely. Although the beans had nice refried texture, they were a little bland. The salsa was not unique either. It had good flavor, but it was salty and the cumin overwhelmed the other flavors. The experience was great overall, and I would definitely go back. I bought a bottle of their hot sauce too.

The service wasn't outstanding right away. We waited a long time to be helped because we got there first thing in the morning and they were still setting up (but why open when you aren't ready to serve?). Also a lady awkwardly came over and put another chair at our table while we were eating without asking. But, the waiter really tried hard and was super friendly and helpful, and more importantly, my food was good! I had the beef machaca.

Such a very relaxing setting, it can be very packed and may have to wait 30mins for seating... The mexican food is very good not so authentic but still very delicious. This place is the spot, especially if you have a dog with you, the outside seating is packed tight but like i said once before very relaxing. The staff are hit and miss, you have some servers who are very sweet and friendly and there are others who just don't care. But all around good restaurant.

I came here with my family and left here full and happy. Chips and salsa were great! I had a bean and cheese and rice burrito with vegetarian pinto beans. No sour cream and side of guacamole. It was all delicious, but burrito was big enough to share with another person. They didn't get 5 stars because their margarita was so-so. Too much mix for me. But I will be coming back next time I visit shell beach. Make sure you grab an early dinner because it gets crowded real fast.

Pismo Beach was my summer vacay spot for years as I was growing up. My family and I made a tradition to stop by for breakfast on our way home. This past weekend my boyfriend and I were in town and I wanted to continue the tradition. It was just as good as I remembered! We were seated quickly and after a little longer than average wait we ordered our breakfast. I got my usual meal of French Toast, but stole some of my boyfriend's hash browns as well. They were the best hash browns I've ever had! I'd definitely recommend Zorro's!

My wife and went out for a ride on our motorcycle. We decided to stop by Zorros for late breakfast. They serve breakfast til 300 pm! I ordered the Chile relleno with two eggs over easy, rice and beans. Wow, it was just like my grandmother used to make for me. Cheesy, tasty awesomely good. My wife tried s piece of my Chile relleno and said next time we visit Zorros t g at what she would order. Nice staff here as well. Always been treated nicely. Thank you everyone at Zorros fir doing a good job. See you soon!

This is based on clam chowder that we ordered to go to compare four chowders in the pismo beach and shell beach area. Top choice was Splash Cafe (creamy and clammy) 2nd place Zorros cafe and cantina (chunky, semi creamy and flavorful) 3rd place was Cracked Crab (watery, not to clammy) Last place Ventana Grill (seemed brothy, gritty and tan colored)

Come for the carne asada...stay for dinner on the patio (yay, heated patio)! To be honest we ordered take out (it seemed unfair to make our puppy wait after such a long day) but the patio looked lovely and lively. The carnitas tacos we ordered were underwhelming and the fish tacos lacked a topping--any topping--and were fairly bland (where we come from they are normally served with some sort of cream fresh). We speculate they actually use tomatoes in their salsa instead of chilis. Sadly, with the 10 minute travel time back to our place the chips ended up super soggy. Ah well, maybe next time we try it we can dine in. Overall I would say, it's a decent place but bring your own salsa...

  • Alexander L.

The food was amazing! I One of the best clam chowders i've ever had. The salsa that comes with the chips is a specialty homemade that was delicious. Oscar, Will and Kaden all offered excellent costumer service that made our dinner that much better. Thanks guys for deilvering an awesome first time experience. Definitely recommend this place to anyone who enjoys quality food and service.

Went here with my husband fir lunch. The chips and salsa were yummy. I had a BBQ chicken sandwich and it was good. My husband had. Salmon sandwich and he really liked it. The iced tea was really good. We sat out on the patio which des not have the greatest view but the patio itself was very nice. We stopped here because we were riding our bikes and a lady in Avila Beach recommended it. We will be going back again. The service was very good. Our server let me try the clam chowder and I loved it.

This restaurant does not have a good water filtration system as the water tasted like dirt. I poured my water into the outside planter. You might want to taste test your filtered water, once a day. Changing the filter may help. Tao's, an awesome New restaurant in Pismo has great tasting filtered water! So, there is NO excuse for bad tasting water!!!

Zorros is always packed on the weekends and it is easy to see why. All of the food is pretty good and they give you lots of it. It might be a buck or two more than a similar place but there is just that kind of feeling there of enjoyability that permeates throughout Shell Beach. Make sure to call ahead since if it is too busy and you didn't get your name in you can really wait forever. My favorite is the Chili Verde Omelette, give it a try!

Well, a little disappointed in service and food. I saw the great reviews as well as a friend's recommendation. When we arrived a lady out front told us to sit any where on patio and she would send waiter over. After a few minutes a guy came by and took our drink order and delivered a few minutes later. We sat chatting and eating fresh chips and salsa when we realized about 15minutes went by and we still were not greeted by a waitress or given a menu. I had to go inside and request menus. Another 10 minutes went by before our waitress arrived to takeout order. We ordered #18 chile relleno And pork taco. Served was served shortly after and was hot and pretty tasty. Overall a little disappointed but will come back to try another time.

We are sorta locals from Pismo Heights so we (or least used to) visit Zorro's fairly often. We made the trek over for breakfast last Saturday. The food was rather marginal but the wait staff was good. The reason I'm even taking the time to post this is because the hostess is the most I'll suited person for her position that I've ever encountered. Maybe she was just having a terrible, bad day but she greeted us like she wanted to beat us with a baseball bat. She asked if she could help us with a utter look of distain on her face. I told in fact; no she could not help us. This person really should be allowed any where near the general public, nevertheless as the first face you see at Zorro's. Hey I know this post wont any real difference so just beware next time you go to Zorro's.

TaCorona Happy Hour is the best! $2.50 tacos and Coronas. You can get beef, chicken, pastor, carnitas and fish, but not the carne asada, although there are plenty of great choices! Pastor is amazing, try it! We go here weekly, it's awesome, great staff and atmosphere as well, go I for breakfast too, you won't be disappointed.

Had a great breakfast at Zorro's! Its a small place, with limited indoor seating, so we were happy that we arrived around 9 am and got a table inside. I had the chilaquiles, and subbed 2 poached eggs for the scrambled. Hubs went for the huevos rancheros. Note to vegetarians - the rice has chicken stock, so be sure to skip it. The servings were pretty huge, but we managed to finish an admirable portion of the food we were served. The hot sauce is homemade and fantastic. I had to get a bottle to take home, and I'm already dreading the day it runs out.

Came here based on reviews from yelp and trip advisor. My wife and I were immediately greeted by a nice and bright young man named Oscar. He seated us promptly and let us know that chips and salsa were on the way. The chips came out warm and the salsa was great. Not a traditional pico de gallo, but a thick/blended tomato salsa which had some heat with a rich garlic/onion flavor. It was not what I was expecting, but really liked it. We started with the zorros dip and we were not disappointed. It had a nice bite with fresh jalapeños. Our drink order came out fast. I got a diet coke, the wife got the mariachi margarita. When our food order was taken our waitress Terri (terry?) Was all smiles and very nice. I got the chili Verde enchiladas, and my wife got the chili Verde burrito. The burrito was huge. Like... Surprisingly huge. It was chock full of tender pork with an awesome Verde salsa. It is slightly tangy and has some noticeable heat. The enchiladas were pretty much the same... Full of tender pork (really tender) with rice and bean sides. The rice was fairly standard for a Spanish Rice in terms of flavor, but the refried beans were really good. Both dishes came with a nice dollop of sour cream and a nice pile of fresh lettuce and a ripe slice of bright red tomato. They also have their own brand of hot sauce made by a member of the family. It was so effing good. Had some nice bite and made my lips burn, but in the best possible way. Through out the entire dinner the staff was attentive, talkative and friendly. The food was beyond my expectations. Hailing from Los Angeles, I wasn't expecting a quaint little Mexican restaurant to blow my socks off... But that's exactly what happened. The only thing that needed attention was the margarita, it was a little heavy on the mix. So it was very sweet and didn't have that beautiful tequila/mix balance. I came here hoping for decent food and fair service. I left with a full belly of great food, nice conversation with the staff and a place to visit next time me and the wife come up to pismo on vacation.

I drive all the way from Bakersfield just to eat at Zorro's. I love the Chilli Size! I hear all the food is great. It looks to be true because they are packed and plates get cleaned. The service is prompt and friendly. My favorite in SLO County.

We went for dinner on a Friday night and only waited 10 minutes for a table, while listening to phenomenal acoustic music by Albert. Everything we had from homemade margs, to green chile burritos, to flautas were phenomenal. If you're in Pismo, this place is a must!

This is one of our "go to" restaurants in the 5 Cities area. Made reservations for a birthday dinner on a Friday evening. Although our reservations were made for outdoor seating, the hostess informed us they do not take reservations for outdoor and would need to speak with the morning staff to make sure this did not happen again. After we were seated indoors, the wait for the drinks and appetizer was relatively short. The food did take longer to arrive than usual. When the food did come it was apparent 1 order of chile verde enchiladas and 1 order of tamales and my granddaughters quesadilla had been sitting in the kitchen for some time. The tortillas for the enchiladas were completely soggy and barely warm. The tamales were so dry my wife could not eat them. The cheese in the quesadilla was cold. Although the meals for the other 2 in our party were adequate, it may be some before we will try Zorro's again.

Wheel me out a here in a wheel chair! I don't think I have been in such a food coma in such a long time...came here looking to get out of the hustle and bustle of Pismo. It is located right off freeway located in Shell beach...nice quant little place that serves a good variety of different breakfast/lunch choices. Not just Mexican choices either it was really hard to make a decision. At first when we rolled in the service was a little slow had to ask for everything so that's what have this place a 4 star for me and not a 5, but after we got into the service it did pick up pretty well. One key take away though is it shouldn't take 10+ mins to get your chips and salsa, but once we did I couldn't stop eating them. I actually caught my daughter trying to eat the salsa with a spoon! For the food my wife and I both got the chili verde which was totally delicious! The beans and rice were average but could care less about that stuff. I also thought it was cool that my 10 yo daughter wanted to order a burger off the adult menu but they are huge 1/2 burgers. I asked the waitress what the chances were to get a kids like one of the adult burgers. "no problem" you should have seen my daughters eyes light up. In the age on "no substitutions" this was really cool and great customer service. I will for sure be back on my next trip back to the coast...!

This is a staple amongst the Shell Beach crowd, better service and quieter in the off hours. If you sit outside they have complimentary Mexican blankets for those who are a little on the bony side. The staff is friendly and knows the menu, if it's not on there they will make it for you. In my case, it was the tostadas, on the menu they do not show you can add meat but they will.

I REALLY LIKE THIS PLACE! I was planning to go for dinner somewhere in SLO but we decided to stay local and discovered this beauty. I was especially craving Mexican food so this was the perfect place. It closed at 9pm but they let people linger and finish their dinner until 9:30pm or so. The restaurant is pretty small but it is a cute quaint place for dinner for small groups. I got seated outdoors and the heat lamps were turned on for our comfort. The people there are especially nice and friggin awesome. The host and waitress were so sweet and it just made the whole experience even better. The two items we got were their carne asada nachos and their carnitas plate with beans and rice. OMG the carnitas were the best I have ever had. I am just craving pork and carnitas now since this place. The pork was tender and had crispy tips that I totally dig. The refried beans and rice complimented the pork perfectly. I used the chips that come with every meal and scooped up some carnitas to make them nachos. The carne asada nachos were also delicious but I really prefer the carnitas since the carne asada were sorta big chewy chunks. Regardless, the food and service was awesome! I am super happy I stumbled across this place and I would definitely go back again if I every visit the area again. This is most defs a place I imagine for a cute dinner on a weekend getaway. **TIPS** 1) The carnitas plate is bombbbb. 2) Sit outside and enjoy the beautiful weather. If it is a bit chilly, request for the heat lamps to be turned on. 3) Enjoy!

We had breakfast here on a Friday and got the last open table. They have both traditional breakfast items and mexican breakfast items. I had eggs and enchilladas and it was quite good. Hubby had the chili verde omelette and loved it. Oh and homemade tortillas on the side. Yum! The service was good too! We liked it so much we went back the next day for lunch. This time we had to wait about 10 minutes for a table. They are quite efficient and clear the tables quickly to keep things moving. This time I had a chicken bacon sandwich on grilled sourdough with a side salad. Hubby had a beef dip with fries and onion rings on the side. (They will do 1/2 of each if you ask.). The chicken sandwich was outstanding. The beef dip was good, but nothing special but the onion rings were very good. Light tempura battered and not greasy at all. Next time we go we'll try one of the mexican dinner entrees with a beer on the side. Great place!

The food was wonderful! The staff made this one of the most enjoyable meals we have ever had. Went in with a very tired child and came out with four very happy people. Well done! Wish we lived closer, would come on a regular basis. The carnitas was also the best we have ever had.

After being on the road with 2-4 year olds that found something to fight over at every wake moment, Zorro's Café and Cantina brought me back to life. We were hungry, tired and downright ready to divorce...*my twins are looking at me like speak for yourself Mom"... Pros: Food is great; reasonably priced with a small town feel. I absolutely LOVED the Chili Colorado with Black Beans and Rice. The perfect amount of spice...it could compete with my Ana Maria's Chili Colorado who is from a small town in Jalisco. Cons: Parking is not that great but Oh Wells... I will definitely make a trip here next month during a trip to Santa Maria.

Food wasn't too bad but the service is very very slow.. My friends and I came here around 2 after lunch hour when there wasn't a lot of customers and it took awhile for our food, water, and bill to come to us. The time that we spent on waiting is double or triple the amount of time we spent on eating our food.

This place is just average, sorry:-( food tasted bland, just missing something. I had the chile relleno, with rice and beans. Not very good. The chips and salsa were the best thing. Our waitress was very nice and attentive

Find this place if you can, but be prepared to wait. Always busy here with locals, and they will probably get "wink and nod" seating preference over the out-of-town visitors. (We experienced this personally.) If you are OK with this, the food is decent and the ambiance is unpretentious.

Zorros is amazing. I visited this fine Mexican eatery around Christmas with a group of 16 people including 6 kids. The menu was full of Mexican and American dishes with so many variations that everyone in our large group was able to find exactly what they were in the mood for. The service was great and so were the chips & salsa. They even brought out the kids meals ahead of the rest to keep them from getting restless... these guys are good! I ordered the tamale/enchilada/taco combo with rice & beans which was great. Although, if I'm being picky, I thought the tamale was a little dry. Everything else ranks as some of the best Mexican food I've had.

Shell Beach's Over-hyped Master-at-None Food ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ This is yet another one of those places that I live just down the street from, have eaten at (& had a yucky experience), & almost always walk or drive by, to see all kinds of people lined up, almost fighting to get in. !?!? Here, I had one of the worst Egg Benedicts ever. They even managed to burn my English muffin & the sauce was terrible to boot. Since it was the slow period after a breakfast rush, service was abrasive since they seemed to have better things to do. Their Pseudo-Mexican fare is just as pathetic as the American stuff. Insipid overpriced overhyped fare, at best. Dinning inside is too claustrophobic & outside is almost just as cramped. Since Shell Beach was, & is, a rather undeveloped quiet Beachside place (& wants it so), none of the places on Shell Beach Rd. have ample clean & modern Bathrooms, nor elbow room...except for Lido's / Dolphin Bay Inn. Why do people flock here like mindless lemmings, it is hard to say. Some theories: 1) There is no other full sit-down breakfast, lunch, & dinner places in Shell Beach, except for those in the hotels at the other end (like the excellent Lido's). 2) The only other full breakfast/lunch place in the immediate area is Seaside Cafe, which has a great Eggs Benedict (& other goodies), but does not do full service. 3) Unless you want a decent-good Pizza or Ameri-Chinese dinner, Zorro's is again one of the only choices in the Shell Beach area except for McLintock's (Ugh & lots of $$$$$$), Seaside (which is open some evenings with music, or again, the Northern Shell Beach Hotel Restaurants (which are not cheap))..... But with the new Shell Beach Brewhouse recently opened up as another very LOUD & crowded option, they may flock here instead.... at least for awhile....but again, only a 1 person restroom for each sex! How can a hundred or so people drink beer & share one or two stalls? Yet another mind boggling Shell Beach dilemma? ...or will they too go out of the scene like the old Basque place that was so popular before them? 4) Tourists see the line, the crowd, the lights, & are attracted like moths to the light bulb. 5) Some Yelpers see the glowing reviews & are attracted to the light bulb. Anyway, I have avoided this place as much as I can & I would rather dive off Shell Beach Buffs than wait in line to eat at this place.

Great clam chowder and excellent service. Outside eating area is dog friendly. Definitely recommend

Fresh food, generous portions, and welcoming atmosphere shows why this is a local favorite. I was delighted by the chef's special, pan fried tilapia with grilled veggies. Not your normal taco house chow, but damn good and perfectly done. Definitely a new favorite.

Such Slow Service. I'm sorry to say we had VERY slow service on our last visit, especially toward the end of our meal when we saw our server talking to a friend outside while we were waiting for her to take our bill and our child was getting fussy. She also never took a long time to come to the table, never checked on us during dinner or offered more drinks etc. They also don't tell you about happy hour either - from 4-6pm. They have taco and drink specials. Kind of annoying that they don't mention it - I guess you have to overhear people taking about it to know?

I can't believe I haven't reviewed Zorro's until now! This place is amazing! They tend to be busy and sometimes service is slightly slow but they are so friendly and the food is so good it makes up for it. They have by far the best clam chowder in the area which says a lot coming from someone like me that eats it every chance I get. Splash is good but Zorro's is better! Also, their eggs Benedict are always perfect! It is my favorite place to go for breakfast. The outdoor patio seating is really nice. The inside is small but it works on a rainy day. My husband likes their Mexican dishes but honestly I always get the clam chowder in a bread bowl so I've never tried the other lunch and dinner items. I would definitely recommend this restaurant!

Great location that recently renovated and expanded the seating areas. They have fun local musicians play in the evening on the patio. The big plus is the food - great quality and consistent. The staff is another plus - very friendly and efficient. Don't forget Tacorona Hour - tacos and beer are $2.50!

Cute spot in Pismo - cozy and very friendly. We ordered the breakfast burrito and the chorizo breakfast burrito, both which were average. Coffee was mediocre. Service was great, though, as was the company. Overall, a spot we'd return to but not necessarily seek out.

I ordered online and came to the restaurant to pick up my order. The staff ignored me until I said that I placed an order online and paid online, they handed me my order and didn't say anything else. Really bad customer service here. The manager should train it's employees on customer service.

Solid breakfast fare on the beach. Great breakfast burrito's that are sizable and will make you ready to go back to sleep. Definitely can get a decent crowd on the weekends.

Went to Zorros and ordered drinks around 345. By the time the drinks came and we got to order it was 4 mins to 4 (taco o rama from 4-6) so we ordered some tacos. When the bill came, suprise suprise we were charged the regular price 4.29 and 3.99 for each taco.... really over 4 mins, I guess I'll be showing up after 4 pm if I want to take part in there "Tacorama". Unfortunate they needed that extra money rather than showing a little "love" to the once a week loyal customers. We love you Zorros just a little suprised that you chose to charge so much for tacos that would be 2.50 in 4 mins.

This has quickly become one of our family's favorite weekend breakfast spots. I have some dietary restrictions and the staff was very knowledgeable and accommodating to any substitutions that I needed to make. It might be a little cramped, you might have to wait a little for a table, but that's just a sign of a great place to eat.

Great neighborhood joint. Breakfast is FANTASTIC. We are addicted to their 7 grain pancakes and omelets. For dinner our kids love the tamales. The waitstaff are always kind and the owner, Cindy, is a gem!

I myself cannot recommend a better Mexican Restaurant in the area. ...try their FRESH award winning Chile verde dude Carmen

The service was great! The food was really good! On the way out I thank that gentlemen and he thank me back remembering my name. Great local place to visit!

We had a great meal here on a sunny Labor Day afternoon. Delicious fish tacos fish and chips and a bean and cheese burrito along with an enchilada Suiza. The food was all very tasty and our service was rapid and friendly. While we are eating there was a steady stream of customers coming into the store indicating its popularity with the local residents. The menu was good value with four adults eating for less than $70 including beverages.

We stopped by Zorro's Cafe for lunch on the way back from a road trip. The wait wasn't too bad-- about 15 minutes on a Friday afternoon. The place was relatively busy and we were seated at a nice, outdoor table in the patio. We had two servers: the trainer and the trainee. They brought us our drinks and took our order quickly. We ordered chicken and cheese quesadillas. I've since edited my review. We definitely ate there on an off-day. I appreciate that the management reached out and all in all, the food was good and the location was nice.

Just checked out the remodel and it looks awesome! They expanded and can accommodate larger parties. Of course, the great food and friendly service has stayed the same.

My first rule for Mexican food is "Only idiots will order a burger at a Mexican restaurant" . I violated my own rule and ordered the Sombrero Burger here . This is not only the best burger I have had in years but also the spiciest. I could extinguish the fire in my belly only after I ate their delicious flan. Super friendly staff but the restaurants has limited seating and might get full quickly. One more small issue they need to melt the ice in the Margarita with more tequila. It is way too mild.

If I could give 0 stars I would. I got there at around 4 pm and it was dead. I ordered the chili Colorado burrito which is a wet burrito with steak and rice. While I was waiting for the burrito they brought chips and salsa which were tasteless and overly salty. I looked in the kitchen and I saw the chef pull out a pre made burrito which was the chili Colorado, put chili sauce on it and shove it in the microwave for 5 minutes, then he saw me looking back there and gave me a dirty look and shut the swinging door to the kitchen....shady.....the burrito was also tasteless and super salty. Only good thing was the upbeat waiter. Don't waste your time here it's a shady operation. Did I mention the bus boy was also the chef?????

I was really impressed with the service from the first moment they were on their game. And any restaurant that caters to my dogs as well is a plus in my book and of course they got something to eat as well . The food was fantastic and nobody (including my furry babies) went home hungry, you rock Zorro's we will definitely be back in the future.

One of the most awesome dining experience by far. Love the vibe of this spot. You can sit on the patio with your pup, but we sat at a cute table by the window inside. They serve breakfast till 3pm! The food was amazing, the serves was amazing, and best part is the owners son came to our table and told us a little history! We even got to sample the clam chowder. Defiantly coming back on our annual trip up north!

Meh..... This place looks better on yelp than in reality. Food is OK, but the biggest table they have is for four. We had 8 and were packed into that small table with extra chairs and not much room for plates. There are a thousand Mexican style restaurants so maybe check out a different one. The food had no real flavor, certainly not spiced like authentic Mexican food. Again, not bad, but not great food. Simple and plain, but tasty.

This place was sooooo good! Our server Arnulfo was awesome! He gave us recommendations about what to order and we were not disappointed! He was very thorough and funny. The food was outstanding! A great little place to stop at if you're in Pismo

If you're looking for consistently great Mexican food, visit Zorro's. The service is fast and friendly and they serve breakfast until 3p! There can be a bit of a wait on the weekends, but go on Sundays, and you get complimentary mimosas in their back patio waiting area. My favorites include their huevos rancheros, chilaquiles, and machaca. I've also heard their chile verde is fantastic. Give it a try and let me know what you think!

This place is great and one of my favorite restaurants in the area. Breakfast is wonderful and so is lunch... that is if you go for the Mexican style dishes. The Mexican food here is incredible (and often very spicy, which I love). They have a breakfast special sometimes with poblano chilies and their suiza sauce that is incredible. That being said, every time I've had something that isn't Mexican, I've gone home disappointed. Call ahead as the wait is often over 30 minutes, especially on the weekends. If you do have to wait, they often have complementary mimosas in the back patio.

We were recently in Pismo Beach and went to Zorro's two mornings in a row! I had the breakfast burrito the first day which was wonderful (their salsa is delicious as well) and had to go back for the banana walnut pancakes the next day ... yum!

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
